The central committee of the World Council of Churches meeting in Geneva, Switzerland 30 August - 6 September adopted a statement on churches' compassionate response to HIV and AIDS.

This workplace policy is in keeping with the on-going work of the WCC and with the statement adopted by the WCC Central Committee on the basis of the WCC Consultative Group on AIDS Study Process, September 1996
2005 Partnerships between churches and people living with HIV/AIDS organizations
In keeping with World Council of Churches (WCC) commitments to take an active role in the response to HIV and AIDS, these guidelines have been developed by the WCC in conjunction with the African Network of Religious Leaders Living with or personally affected by HIV/AIDS (ANERELA+) and the Global Network of People living with HIV/AIDS (GNP+).
